About
Toma Verde Tomatillo (Physalis Ixocarpa) is an early-maturing, highly popular variety of Tomatillo widely used in Mexican cuisine for their famous salsa verde. The fruit ripens inside a papery husk that splits open as the fruit matures. Plants feature bright, citrusy, and slightly tart taste when harvested young. Toma Verde spreads 24–48 inches tall and wide. This variety handles heat and drought better than most tomatoes. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–11, it grows as a warm-season annual across the USA.
