Bhut Jolokia Hot Pepper Seeds

Sow Ghost Pepper plant seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost date. Before planting, soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and cut down germination time. Plant ¼ inch deep and keep soil temperature at 75–90°F throughout germination. Bhut Jolokia Ghost Pepper seeds germinate in 3–4 weeks. Ghost hot Pepper seeds are not the fastest germinators on the market, but they are consistent once conditions are right. Transplant seedlings 18–24 inches apart.

Ghost Pepper plants want full sun, at least 6–8 hours per day. Shade slows fruit development, especially in climates where the growing season is already short. Soil should be moist and well-drained with organic matter mixed in. Water consistently at 1–2 inches per week and check moisture more often during heat spikes. Mulch around the base to keep moisture in.

Once flowers appear, don’t add any nitrogen-heavy fertilizers. Bhut Peppers pass through green and orange before reaching full red; red is when heat and flavor are both at their peak. Always handle harvested fruit with gloves to avoid skin irritation. A well-maintained plant produces heavy yields across the full season until the early fall.
