About
Birds Eye Chili Pepper (Capsicum Annuum), known as Thai Bird Chili Pepper or prik ki nu, is a small hot Pepper variety originating from Southeast Asia. It's a compact plant with a bunch of peppers that range between 50,000 and 100,000 SHU, well beyond the range of the popular Jalapeno and squarely in the habanero range. Plants grow 12-18 inches tall, which is good size for both a windowsill apartment and a full raised bed. It is a tender perennial in USDA Zones 10-12 but in other areas is grown as an annual. Beyond the heat, these Birds Eye Red Chili Peppers are genuinely useful: dry them, pickle them, freeze them, ferment them into sauce, or eat them straight off the plant if you know what you're getting into.
