Forget-Me-Not Seeds

For direct sowing, plant the seeds no deeper than ¼ inch, since light encourages germination. The best time to plant is in early spring after the last frost or in the fall if you want to get a quick-start on the season. No stratification is required for Forget Me Not seeds. Keep the ground moist and at a temperature of 65-72°F. This should take about for 10-21 days for Forget Me Not flower seeds to sprout.  When they are large enough to handle, space them 6-12 inches apart, otherwise, you'll get airflow problems, leggy stems, and a shorter bloom window.

Forget Me Not flowers thrive in part sun to shade. Full sun is possible in cool northern climates but in warmer climates it makes the blooming period much shorter. Forget Me Not seeds require moist but well-draining soil. It does not tolerate dry spells as some annuals do. If you allow the soil to dry out during the growing season, the plants will go to seed prematurely.

For the current season, monthly feeding with a balanced fertilizer in slow-release form will keep the flowers in bloom. After flowering, plants decline — that's normal. Don't deadhead everything if you want plants to return. Let at least some stems develop their papery seed pods. When pods turn brown, shake them over the bed — or collect the small black Forget-Me-Not seeds and store in a cool and dry place for next season.
