Dwarf Lemon Sulphur Cosmos Seeds

Press Sulphur Cosmos seeds lightly onto the soil surface after the last frost. Don’t cover them, as they need light to germinate. If you want a head start, sow indoors 4–6 weeks before your transplant date, however we don’t recommend it, as Cosmos resents root disturbance. Sulphur Dwarf Cosmos seeds germinate in 7–10 days at 65–75°F (18–24°C). Space or thin plants to 10–12 inches apart to keep airflow decent and encourage branching. 

Dwarf cosmos flowers need full sun — at least 6 hours daily — to stay compact and bloom heavily. Shade produces taller, weaker stems and noticeably fewer flowers. Sulphur Cosmos flowers prefer poor, low-fertility, sandy ground providing it is well drained. Overfeeding pushes foliage at the expense of blooms. Water seedlings consistently until they establish, then back off, as mature Sulphur Cosmos plants become drought-tolerant. 

Remove spent blooms regularly if you want continuous flowering into fall. If you plan to collect seeds for the next season ot let it self-seed, leave a few heads on the plant. Don’t feed Dwarf Cosmos flowers as more feeding rarely improves the flower count. For cutting, take stems in the morning when blooms are just opening, cut low, and get them into water immediately. Flowers hold for 5–7 days in a vase.
