White Morning Glory Seeds

To improve germination, scrape the seeds with a nail file or soak the seeds overnight in warm water. Otherwise, the hard seed coat delays germination. Sow White Morning Glory seeds ¼ inch deep when the soil temperature reaches 70-85°F. It's better to sow seeds directly outdoors, as White Morning Glory flower does not like transplanting. If you sow indoors, then you should consider using a biodegradable pot to not disturb roots when transplanting. Germination takes 7-10 days under warm conditions. 

White Morning-Glory flowers thrive in full sun — it requires 6-8 hours of direct sun per day. It can survive partial shade, but the flowering drops off fast and the vine gets leggy. The soil must drain well, as waterlogged roots will rot out before the plant ever gets established. If you have heavy clay soil, add some compost or sand to lighten it. These vines need consistent watering during germination and the first few weeks of growth, then you can reduce watering. Once they're established, Ipomea alba flowers survive a short drought without much complaint.

Provide the vine with something to climb on as soon as possible, like a trellis, fence post, or arbor. The vine left on the ground may not bloom at all. Pinch the growing tips of the vine early to promote more blooming. Deadheading isn't strictly necessary, but leaving spent flowers to form seed pods will slow new bud production. Feed monthly with low nitrogen, phosphorus-rich fertilizer. Note that too much nitrogen pushes foliage at the expense of blooms. Let the last pods dry completely on the vine if you want to harvest the seeds for next year.
