Crazy Blend Zinnia Seeds

Direct sow Crazy Blend Zinnia seeds outdoors once soil temperature reaches at least 60 °F, pressing each seed just 1/8 inch deep — Zinnias need light to germinate, so avoid burying them too deeply. For an earlier start, sow  Zinnia Crazy Blend colors mix indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost date and transplant seedlings once all frost risk has passed. When the temperature stays between 74–84 °F,  sprouts emerge in 7–10 days. To ensure even spacing and avoid overcrowding, thin seedlings to about 12 inches apart once they reach 3 inches tall.

Zinnias are sun-loving flowers — plant them where they'll receive a minimum of 6 full hours of direct sunlight each day for the best bloom production. They thrive in loose, fertile, well-drained soil; if your beds are heavy clay, work in compost before sowing to improve drainage and structure. Water deeply once a week, allowing the soil to dry slightly. Overwatering can cause powdery mildew on the foliage, also avoid wetting the leaves when watering. Once established, Crazy Blend Zinnias are drought-tolerant and will continue flowering even during dry summer spells.

Deadheading is the most effective way to keep your plants producing fresh flowers continuously from summer to fall. To use as cut flowers, snip stems early in the morning when buds are just beginning to open, and new buds will quickly follow. Feed plants monthly with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to support strong stems and larger blooms throughout the season. At the end of the season, allow a few flower heads to dry fully on the plant, then collect and store the seeds in a cool, dry place for next year's garden. Zinnias are generally low-maintenance and largely resistant to common garden pests, especially when given good air circulation.
