Chocolate Cherry Sunflower Seeds

Direct-sow Helianthus Annuus Sunflower seeds outdoors once the soil temperature reaches 60–70 °F, planting each seed about ½ inch deep. Space seeds 16 inches apart to give each plant enough room to branch and develop multiple flower heads. For an earlier start, sow sun flower seeds indoors 2 weeks before your last frost date and transplant seedlings once nighttime temperatures stay above 50 °F. Cherry chocolate Sunflower seeds germinate quickly, and first sprouts appear in just 7–14 days. 

Chocolate Cherry Sunflowers are full-sun plants that need 8–12 hours of direct sunlight daily to grow strong, upright stems. Plant them in well-drained, moderately fertile soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.5. Water deeply once or twice a week during the first few weeks while roots establish, then reduce frequency as plants mature. Once established, Cherry Chocolate Sunflowers handle brief dry spells, though consistent moisture produces larger blooms.

Feed your plants once a month with a balanced slow-release organic fertilizer to support tall stem development and repeated blooming. Pinch out the central growing tip early if you want more side branches. Stake taller stems in windy spots to prevent snapping once plants reach 4–5 feet. Deadhead blooms regularly to encourage continuous blooming. As heads begin to brown in late summer, leave a few on the stalk to mature fully — you can harvest the raw Sunflower seeds for snacking or save them for next season.
